Marking the beginning of the 72-day-long Onam festivities, the ritualistic Vallasadya feast will commence at the centuries-old Sree Parthasarathy temple at Aranmula on July 19, 2026.

According to the Aranmula Palliyoda Seva Sanghom, 380 Vallasadyas have already been booked for the season, with the organisers expecting a total of 550 feasts this year. Preparations for the annual event are currently under way.

Among the major events of the season, the Uthrittathi Vallamkali will be held on August 30, while the Ashtamirohini Vallasadya is scheduled for September 4.

The feast will be offered to visitors under the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Budget Tourism programme on 56 days at the Panchajanyam Auditorium on the temple premises. In addition, devotees can participate in the feast using special passes priced at ₹300 a person.

Meanwhile, the general body meeting of the Aranmula Palliyoda Seva Sangham was held on Sunday. Secretary Prasad Anandabhavan presented the Budget for the 2026-27 financial year, projecting a revenue of ₹7.75 crore, expenditure of ₹7.63 crore and a surplus of ₹12 lakh. It also provides for a grant of ₹2.5 lakh for each palliyodam (snake boat).

The meeting also elected subcommittee conveners to oversee the conduct of the Vallasadya, the snakeboat regatta and other activities connected with the annual celebrations.
