Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday reiterated the Congress government’s commitment to building a welfare-oriented State, announcing the swift implementation of two major educational infrastructure projects aimed at empowering students and unemployed youth.
Following an inspection of the proposed sites for the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Knowledge Centre near Lower Tank Bund and the Nimboli Adda Hostel in Kachiguda here, Mr. Vikramarka said that both financial and administrative approvals have already been granted. The centre will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹110 crore, while the hostel project will cost around ₹25 crore.
Describing the facilities as ‘modern temples of knowledge’, Mr. Vikramarka said the government aims to eliminate the hardships faced by students and job aspirants who are forced to travel to Hyderabad for coaching and educational resources. The centre will feature study circles, digital libraries, conference halls and advanced technological infrastructure capable of delivering online coaching and educational content across the State.
The proposed building near Tank Bund will include a cellar, ground floor and ten upper floors, serving as the central hub of a Statewide network of Ambedkar Knowledge Centres planned for every Assembly constituency. Through this interconnected system, expert lecturers based in Hyderabad will provide coaching to students remotely.
Mr. Vikramarka also announced that ₹50 crore has been allocated in the current budget to expedite the project, with ₹5 crore already released for demolition of the existing structure. He noted that while the previous government laid the foundation stone in 2016, the project remained incomplete.
The historic Nimboli Adda Hostel will be modernised and renamed the Babu Jagjivan Ram Knowledge Centre, continuing its legacy of supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds and preparing future generations for academic and professional success.
