Tanzania outlines strategies to collaborate with porters in promoting tourism

DODOMA: DEPUTY Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism , Hamad Hassan Chande has said the government will continue to recognize and collaborate with the Tanzania Association of Porters (TAP) as an important stakeholder in guiding tourists for the broader interests of the community and the nation as a whole in promoting and developing the tourism sector in the country Chande said this today in the 13th Parliament, Third Session, 45th Session, while responding to a question by Moshi Urban Constituency Member of Parliament, Ibrahim Mohamed Shayo (CCM), who wanted to know the Government’s plan to recognize the association and involve it as an important tourism stakeholder in the country “The Ministry recognizes this association and has been collaborating with it in various events related to Porters including participation in stakeholder meetings held in Dodoma and training for porters organized by the Ministry in collaboration with the Tanzania Tourism Association (TATO) held on May 11, this year, in the city Arusha and May 13, this year in Moshi Municipality in Kilimanjaro region,” Chande emphasized. ALSO READ: Tanzania steps up Russia tourism push In another step, MChande congratulated the MP for accepting to be the patron of the Tanzania Porters Association and assured him that the Ministry will continue to provide him with cooperation in fulfilling his role of developing the Tourism Sector which has contributed significantly in providing employment opportunities for the youth, the National GDP and economic growth in general.
