DAR ES SALAAM/IRINGA: PRIME Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has wrapped up his working visit to Iringa region with a firm call for accountability and faster response to public concerns, while also fulfilling a personal promise made to a resident during his tour. Yesterday, Mwigulu handed over a three wheeled electric mobility bike to Ms Elizabeth Mnyeke, a resident of Isimani in Iringa Region living with disability. The support followed her request presented during a public meeting on Friday, and is aimed at improving her mobility and easing her daily life. Speaking during a final briefing with regional and district leaders at the Iringa Regional Commissioners Office, the Prime Minister stressed that all issues raised by citizens during his visit must be followed up carefully and resolved in a timely manner, with clear feedback given to the public. He urged leaders to move away from informal arrangements in land matters, warning that agreements based only on trust often lead to disputes. He said all land transactions must be backed by written agreements and properly recorded at village offices to ensure legal recognition and reduce conflicts. Mwigulu noted that the government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan has invested heavily in development projects across the country, and it is the duty of leaders to make sure citizens directly benefit through improved services. He said he was encouraged by the way Iringa leaders had handled many of the concerns raised during his visit, pointing out that several issues were already being addressed before they reached higher levels of escalation. He described this as the kind of responsiveness expected in public service. He concluded by urging leaders to remain proactive and accountable, saying that effective service delivery remains the foundation of trust between government and citizens.
