The Ministry of Finance has issued a formal notification establishing the salary structure for personal staff members appointed on a temporary basis from outside the government service to ministers, state ministers, and deputy ministers. According to the directive, assistant private secretaries and private secretaries appointed to these roles will receive a fixed basic salary of 32,540 taka, corresponding to the 8th step of the 9th grade under the 2015 national pay scale. A key condition of this appointment is that these individuals will not be eligible for annual salary increments, meaning their basic pay will remain static throughout their tenure. Furthermore, the notification clarifies that these temporary appointees are excluded from pension, gratuity, and provident fund benefits, as they are not permanent government employees. However, they will remain entitled to standard allowances such as housing and medical benefits as per existing government regulations. This policy specifically excludes those currently serving in government positions who may be deputed to these roles, as their existing pay structures will continue to apply. The initiative aims to resolve long-standing ambiguities regarding the financial management and administrative status of political executive support staff.

This directive provides much-needed clarity and standardization for the compensation of political support staff, ensuring administrative transparency in the appointment of non-permanent government personnel.
