Police arrest eight foreigners over fake kidnapping, extortion in Ogun

Authorities in Ogun State have apprehended eight foreign nationals suspected of operating an international criminal ring centered on staged abductions. The group allegedly fabricated a kidnapping scenario involving a Mauritanian citizen, who contacted his relatives overseas to demand a ransom payment for his safe return. Law enforcement officers launched an investigation after receiving intelligence regarding the suspicious incident, eventually tracking the suspects to a hideout in Adiyan Town. Among those detained are individuals from Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Mauritania, and the Republic of Benin. Investigators discovered that the supposed victim was a willing participant in the scheme, working alongside his associates to extort money from his own family. The suspects have reportedly admitted to their roles in the fraudulent operation following their arrest.
