Strategic, all-weather Zojila Tunnel between Kashmir and Kargil to see final breakthrough

India is set to achieve a major engineering milestone with the final breakthrough of the Zojila Tunnel, a critical infrastructure project linking the Kashmir Valley to the Kargil region in Ladakh. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will personally supervise the concluding blasting operations scheduled for June 9 on the Kargil side. Spanning over 13 kilometers, this ambitious tunnel is situated at an elevation of more than 11,500 feet within the Himalayan mountain range. The completion of this passage represents a significant advancement in regional connectivity, ensuring that the route remains accessible throughout the year regardless of harsh weather conditions.
